This amazing 1991 Thompson Fisherman 21-foot 9 person capacity boat just re-launched in 2018 has just been renewed, from the inside out. Construction included but not limited to removal of all the stringers and bulkheads and replaced with Coosa Bluewater 26 Board. For those not familiar with Coosa: Coosa Composite structural panels are made of high-density, polyurethane foam reinforced with fiberglass. Our panels are the perfect plywood replacement!
We did not use any wood in the rebuild aside from the glovebox which is encased with fiberglass as well.
The Coosa was secured using Epoxy Resin and Fiberglass cloth using the manual “The Elements of Boat Strength – Gerr” for all calculations and references.

Water permeation is always a concern when purchasing a boat, and how can you tell if the stringers and bulkheads are wet and rotting? It’s not always obvious. You’ll NEVER have to worry about rot in this boat, Coosa panels water absorption rate is non-significant.

She's a total rebuild from the bare hull up. All fiberglass work was professionally done with two-part System Three Epoxy which is stronger than fiberglass resin and 100% non-permeable to water. Foam floatation is closed cell foam (won't absorb liquids) unlike in older boats where the foams would absorb water. We have all the construction photos that show each step along the way.

Thompson Boats built boats for over 100 years but as the family grew the focus changed and fragmented. At one time Thompson was even owned by ChrisCraft! Sadly, they went out of business in the 1990’s.

Originally, she had an inboard, but we removed that and had a pod built and installed.
For power, she has a 2009 225HP Yamaha with a low 211 HOURS that had a brand-new power head installed in 2016. The hours shown on the gauge are for the new powerhead (exact original hours are unknown approx. 1500).
For a kicker, she has a 2009 Extra Long Shaft High Thrust Yamaha, Electric Start with power tilt and trim with a prop protector ring.
The vessel is equipped with Yamaha Controls for each engine and a separate station at the stern for the kicker.
The engines are linked and steered with a Seastar Hydraulic Steering Cylinder with dual helm control. The separate transom wheel makes steering a breeze while on deck.

On the hull, all fittings were replaced with 316 Stainless Steel and every fitting has a backing plate to ensure the ultimate in boat strength.

The topside and interior were painted with Awlgrip Oyster White (two part epoxy) paint and all the non-skid was redone at the same time.

The roof was raised, all new window frames and windows (Manufactured and supplied by AJR Marine) were installed. New canvas and plastic windows with a drop curtain to keep the bad weather at bay.

The Eze-Loader Trailer with guide bunks has surge activated Stainless Steel Disk Brakes with new bearings and seals, every roller has been replaced. The lights have all been upgraded to sealed LED. Fulton 2 speed 2500LB winch.
