VW Jetta, 6- speed automatic with 235,000km.To avoid wasting anyone’s time: this vehicle has issues! That’s why the price is what it is, however, it has relatively low kms considering the year, some “luxury” features for the year, and will reliably get you from point A to point B every time. Based on some of the early 90s cars I’ve seen for sale with 500,000km on them and some not even running listed at $2000-3000, I feel $1800 is reasonable for my Jetta. Not interested in trades, only cash/etransfer IN FULL at time of sale. Please see a full breakdown below:
The good:
-low km for the year,
-Recently replaced battery that fires up perfectly every time,
-Has a lot of features considering the year including sunroof, heated front seats, cruise control, power windows/locks, power/heated side mirrors, power drivers seat adjustability, six disc CD player, locking gas cap,
-Safety features including side-curtain airbags, anti-theft system (which reduces insurance prices), BAS (Brake Assist System), ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System), EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) and ASR (Anti Slip Regulation)
-Tiptronic/ Steptronic: (Common names for automatic transmissions with manual mode)
-Additionally this car is extra spacious and has lots of leg room as well as lots of trunk space,
-Good fuel efficiency
The bad:
-I had someone back into me and their trailer hitch got stuck under my front bumper and they went to drive off so the front bumper is loose right now (I’ve driven it like this but it is recommended you take precautions to keep it in place- I am just not in any way a mechanically knowledgeable person but can try to get someone to do a quick reasonable repair to it)
-The Exhaust System Malfunction light is constantly illuminated meaning it has reduced quality of the exhaust emissions, however, it’s been on since I purchased it from the dealership two years ago, it doesn’t appear on a diagnostic scanner and it hasn’t caused me any issues,
-Exterior paint is peeling,
-Previous owner likely had children that peeled most the labels off the buttons. I have gone over them with a black paint pen then labelled each missing symbol so you know what they’re for,
-The heated seats can get a little too hot, the wiring burnt a hole along the back rest of the passenger seat (I don’t recommend using that side),
-The cloth is detached from the roof in the back
This car would be great for either a mechanically inclined individual looking for a cheap fixer upper or someone who prefers buying cheap cars and running them as long as they’ll go and not investing money for repairs/maintenance.
