As an employee of the Kwakiutl District Council (KDC) you will be a key member of the health team, providing direct patient support to KDC member nation citizens.
Reporting to the Health Director, the CHHN is a registered nurse with community health training (e.g. CDC Certification). The position exists to provide direct nursing care and community health program management. The incumbent is responsible for working cooperatively with the entire KDC Health team.

As a casual worker, this employee works “stand-by”, accepting daily or weekly assignments for vacation relief, sick day or heavy workload if available. The position travels to all of the KDC site locations as dispatched.

Education and Experience
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing, current Registration and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. Nursing experience in a community health and/or home care related field is required. Previous experience working in a First Nations Community (particularly KDC member Communities) is preferred. First Nations and Inuit Health Branch Immunization Certification. Current Level C CPR and First Aid Certification.

The CHHN level is fully job competent and accepts responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the
position without close supervision being required.
